On Tuesday 9th February Year Two visited Verulamium.

Verulamium (St Albans) was one of the largest towns in Roman Britain.  Year Two went to the museum to see bits and pieces of everyday Roman life, from wonderful mosaics, such as the lion and the sea god, to coins, coffins, amphorae and statuettes.  We had an entertaining handling session, trying to puzzle out the use of various objects - finishing with a sniff of fish sauce (which Romans used on practically everything).

St Albans is worth another visit for the Roman theatre, and the walls, and the Abbey dedicated to St Alban, Britain's first saint and martyr.
