Matters Arising from the Last Meeting:

  • Team Members: CdR said that she would announce the names of the team in Assembly (this was done)
  • Team Meetings: Meetings will be on Tuesday lunchtimes in the Language Room at 12.45 (lasting 30 minutes). The date for the first Team meeting would be Tuesday 17th March. HP will put together an Agenda for the first meeting.
  • Environment Team Name: CdR will put together a list of the proposed names which will be given out to the Form Teachers for all the children to individually vote on.
  • Registration: It was confirmed that Mrs Gibbs has registered Dolphin on the Eco Schools Scheme. Any information she receives from them she will pass onto CdR (to be passed onto HP and SdC)
  • Eco Notice Board CdR said that the Eco Notice Board will be next to the School Council board in the main hall.
  • Member of Staff at the Team meetings: CdR said that either she or Mrs Gibbs would be able to attend the Team meetings.
  • Curriculum: HP and SdC will put together a list of topics which would be good to have included in the Curriculum and Mrs Gibbs will see which are already covered and which might be added.
  • Eco School requirements: SdC to check we are complying with Eco School requirements and what we need to do to apply for the Bronze Award.

New Matters:

  • Environmental Audit: This will need to be completed in order to move onto writing an Action Plan. It was agreed to use the longer version on the Eco Schools Website, and that completing the sections would be split between the Environment Team and the Environment Club. The Team will fill in the sections on Energy, Litter, Waste, Water, Transport, Healthy Living, while the Club will cover Biodiversity and School Grounds. These will be started in the first meetings of the Team and the Club in the Summer Term.
  • School Grounds: HP and SdC will meet Tony and Alex to have a look around the school grounds and discuss possible areas where the Team and Club could do work to encourage wildlife. CdR will speak to Tony and Alex to arrange a time. The Team will write a letter to Nancy asking permission to make the pond area a Wildlife Conservation area and letting her know what sort of things we would like to do there.
  • Budget: HP met with Mrs Gibbs and there will be an annual budget made available to the Team and Club.
  • Website: SdC to speak to Mrs Smith re putting the names of the Team on the website, and letting people know about the Notice Board. She will also ask whether it will be possible for the Agenda and Minutes of the Team meetings can be put on the Website.
  • Designing a Logo: Once the name has been decided, CdR will liaise with Mr Renouf to organise the designing of a logo for the Team in Art lessons. Mrs Renouf has said that she would be able to get the logo reproduced on paper/banners/T shirts at her work if we would like this.
  • Environment Club: HP and SdC will pass onto CdR ideas for the Club, and HP/CdR will look on the Internet for other Environment Club activities to keep the Club active and vibrant.
  • Second Environment Team Meeting: Will be held on Tuesday 31st March. The main things to cover will be writing the letter to Nancy, asking them to come up with ideas for an Eco Code and Explaining the Audit (which will lead to the Action Plan).
