Eco Warriors Meeting 31^st March 2009

British Wildlife: Birds, Foxes, Rabbits, Mice, Badgers, Worms, Lizards, Mini-beasts, Frogs, Snakes.

Survival

Food, Water, Homes, Soil (Plants), Friends/Mates.

In our Eco Zone:

Trees, Shrubs/Bushes, Longer Grass, Flowers (Attracts Bees, Butterflies etc.), Nettles, Moss, Rotting Wood (Attracts Mini-beasts), Pond or other similar water source, Insect Hotel, Hedgehog Home. Also, in the centre of the pond/water source a wooden platform for ducks and other birds.

Sites for our Eco Zone:

• Top of Field

• Nancy’s Pond and Surrounding Area

Nancy’s Pond and Surrounding Area probably best because it already has a water source and is surrounded by a natural habitat. Also it can be seen from the Meadow Building without disturbing the Animals. However, we would need to get Nancy’s permission.

Eco Code Ideas

Share lifts to school/walk/cycle etc.

Turn off taps when not in use.

Reduce, Reuse, And Recycle.

Turn off lights when not in use.

Pick up litter/Don’t drop litter.

Look after Wildlife.

Less use of packaging in Lunchboxes – use reusable plastic tub not a plastic bag.

Buy Recycled Paper, Pencils, and Pens.

Fountain Pens – Can be used again and again, only the cartridges need replacing.

Put on a jumper not the heating.

Use less loo roll etc. in the toilets.

Gardening Club on the field.

Turn off electricity when not in use.

Close doors to keep heat in buildings.

Compost Heap.

Organic/Locally made food.

Recycling Bin in EVERY classroom.

Use reusable bags for shopping etc.
