Since its inception almost ten years ago, FunRaisers has grown from a small group of enthusiastic and hard working parents and staff to a team now of roughly thirty people including representation from all year groups, Nursery and teaching staff. There are two ‘Clippers’ ( Class Liaison Person!) for each year group and Nursery who attend meetings, help organise events and liase with all the parents and staff involved with their year group to facilitate the generation of ideas, and the feedback of information.

FunRaisers hold their AGM early in the autumn term and we would warmly welcome new members whether you are interested in an active role, or would simply like to attend the occasional meeting and help with the occasional event. If you would like more information about the roles of the committee and Clippers, please do not hesitate to contact me or talk to your own Clipper. A list of the current team can be found on the FunRaisers’ Notice Board near the tennis courts.

The primary objective of FunRaisers has always been to arrange social events that foster the community spirit which is so much a part of life at Dolphin. We also aim to raise money to provide resources for our children over and above those which could reasonably be expected to be provided by the school. In future we will also be supporting school charity initiatives with the proceeds from one Hot Lunch each term. (We plan to run two per term, each lunch organised by parents from two year groups.)

In all over £50,000 has been raised during the past ten years and FunRaisers have been able to purchase for the school picnic benches, the adventure playground, a pergola to provide shade in Nursery, the materials to build the Quiet Garden (Ernie and Alex provided the construction skills!), blackout curtains for the hall (as a joint project with the school), stage lighting, a computerised library system, sports soft play equipment and most recently an interactive whiteboard and video projector system, digital cameras and tapes for the minibuses. £17,000 was raised at the Auction of Promises alone and we have provided a professional stage blocking system for drama productions, a kiln and other pottery equipment for the Art Department, musical instruments, an incubator and other equipment for Nursery, gardening equipment for use in clubs and lessons and a cricket catching cradle and score board. We are currently implementing plans designed by Year Eight for the redevelopment of the playground area. The needs of all of our children will be considered and the end result should provide a huge amount of pleasure and stimulation for all ages during playtime.
