Dolphin is a modern and forward-thinking independent, coeducational, prep school in Berkshire – an exciting and enterprising place in which to learn, to grow and to be.

At the very heart of our educational philosophy is our belief that children learn best when they are happy, secure and inspired. Individuality is celebrated, relationships between teacher and child are cherished, curiosity about the world abounds and children are encouraged to develop their ability to discuss, to question and to explore. Children are free to wear their own clothes which goes to the very heart of our wish that they will feel comfortable and confident when they come into school.

Freedom to Learn

We pride ourselves on the creative nature of our teaching styles and children flourish in small classes, in an atmosphere filled with warmth and enthusiasm. Our Freedom to Learn ideal translates into creating a learning environment where our children love coming into school, are inspired by subject specialist teaching from an early age and have the opportunity to learn at their own pace and in their own way.

Our core values – kindness, confidence, challenge, discovery, freedom – permeate all that we do at Dolphin and our learning extends far beyond the classroom.

The cornerstone of our ethos is our day and residential trip programme, through which much of our curriculum is delivered. During their time at Dolphin, children will spend 120 days on trips (day, field and walking), 60 of which are residential, and with the exception of a proportion of the senior trips to the Alps, Italy, Ireland and Spain all are built into the school fees.

Welcome to Dolphin School.

We have been so impressed at how the school encourage a real love for learning and give the children the independence to grow.
