We are delighted to report that Hugh Welchman, class of '88, has won an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film for his Peter and the Wolf at the 2008 Academy Awards. The film first appeared on Christmas Eve 2006 on Channel 4. Hugh, an Oxford graduate, founded Breakthru Films in 2002 with Alan Dewhurst. He has produced a feature length documentary and various short films including two for Monty Python. He has won the top Festival Prize and twice was on the official selection list for Cannes and has been short listed by BAFTA.
