Year 6 return after a successful five-day visit to the castles of North Wales, in particular those of Edward I in the 13th century, taking in a slate mine along the way, a hydroelectric plant and undertaking a river study, amongst a host of other activities.

Years 7 and 8 studied the Roman occupation of Britain in Northumbria, including a look at Roman camps and Hadrian's Wall. In addition the architecture of different periods was examined and included churches at Escombe, Corbridge and Durham Cathedral. They also found time to learn more about the Venerable Bede and what a monk's life was like at the time.
