Year 8 Art Exhibition

Year Eight were proud to present their Art exhibition showcasing the Art they have created on the subject of Conflict in its many forms and interpretations.

FunRaisers' Dinner Dance

FunRaisers, the Parent Teacher Association of Dolphin School in Hurst, held their first ever fund raising dinner dance at the Henley Management College on Saturday 27^th June.

Fostering Assembly

Members of Year 3, led by Sam, delighted and informed the whole school in assembly today with their knowledge and understanding of Fostering. They used a little role play to bring their message to life.

Claire Taylor Visits Dolphin

Old Delphinian and the world's top female cricketer, Claire Taylor, delighted a group of girls from Years 6, 7 & 8 when she came along to run a cricketing skills workshop for them.

Spring Fair

Saturday 16th May saw the school field come alive with the eagerly awaited FunRaisers' Spring Fair.

Dolphin's Big Sleep Over

Dolphin’s first ever sleep-over was a resounding success! Over 60 children from Years Five to Eight spent the night on the hall floor and managed to raise over £500 for FunRaisers.

Writing Day
Tuesday 28th April saw Dolphin's inaugural Creative Writing Day.

Claire Taylor

Old Delphinian, Claire Taylor, has become the first woman in the 120 year history of WISDEN to be selected as one of its five Cricketers of the Year. This unprecendented honour is based on her perfomance in 2008 when she finished the year as Number One Woman Batsman in the World and batted England to victory in the Ashes played in Australia.

World Story Telling Day

Year Seven delighted Nursery on Friday March 20th as part of World Story Telling Day.

Harrow Scholar
We are delighted for William in Year Eight who has secured a top academic scholarship to Harrow in September following a demanding three day assessment process.

West End Success
Congratulations to Sasha in Year Five who has secured a role in the West End production of Les Miserables as Eponine. Sasha was successful through the audition process against stiff competition. We wish her well with what we are sure will be an exciting experience.

Egyptian Assembly

Following an inspirational visit to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, Year Four brought their learning to life in a special school assembly.

Dolphin Dance Club

Dolphin's Dance Club, run by Rachel Osborne, is a talented group of enthusiastic members of Years Three and Four. They are thrilled, nervous and excited to have been chosen to perform at South Hill Park on Friday 13th March as part of the Bracknell Forest Dance Festival, Lift Off.

Sir Nicholas Winton

Dolphin was honoured by a visit from Sir Nicholas Winton, organiser of the Kindertransport which saved many hundreds of children from persecution in Czechoslovakia just before the outbreak of World War Two, and Dr Pavel Seifter, former Czech Ambassador to the UK.

Maths Challenge Success
Dolphin children in years Six, Seven and Eight entered the National Intermediate Maths Challenge which is designed for pupils in Year Eleven. William in Year Eight not only achieved a Gold Certificate for his performance, but also qualified for the European Kangaroo Competition which is for the highest performing students in over 25 different countries.

UNICEF Day for Change

Dolphin supported the 2009 UNICEF Day for Change in aid of well-being programmes for children in Papua New Guinea on Friday 6^th February. Dolphin children came to school wearing one of the colours of the Papua New Guinea flag and made a donation to the appeal, raising over £200.

Nursery International Day

The nursery children loved showing their parents all their wonderful and creative art work during International Day.

Dolphin Enviro Team

Dolphin has launched its search for the team of children who will contribute their ideas and help drive forward initiatives which will make Dolphin more environmentallt friendly.

Aladdin

The Whole of Year Five delighted audiences on December 17th and 18th with their Winter musical, Aladdin.

FunRaisers' Indulgence Evening

FunRaisers organised a wonderful evening of pampering, fun and relaxation for parents and staff on Wednesday 19th November.

Poetry Cabaret

As part of our National Book Week celebrations Years Seven and Eight delighted an audience of family and friends with a Poetry Cabaret Evening featuring poetry recitals and music.
