Marketing Competition Winners

We are delighted and very proud to announce that thanks to the hard work and skill of Ayesha and Freddie in Year Eight Dolphin has won the National Shakespeare in Schools Festival Marketing Competition.

Oxbridge Success
We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to seven members of the Old Delphinian class of 2005 who were interviewed for places at Oxford and Cambridge in December. They applied to read a wide range of subjects including Bio Chemistry, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Natural Sciences, PPE, and Russian. In the most competitive year yet for Oxbridge places (applications were up by 40%), the four who received offers can feel especially proud. We wish them all well with their A Level exams and university careers.

Nursery Story Character Day

On Wednesday 20th JanuaryDolphin's Nursery children dressed up for charity as their favourite character from a traditional story. Every year the children of Dolphin School select a charity to support based on presentations given by the Year Eight children to the whole school. This year the majority voted for The Thames Valley Adventure Playground who provide, on a two acre site in Taplow near Maidenhead, a unique range of adventurous, therapeutic, educational play activities for children and adults with all types of disability in a safe, caring, stimulating environment.

Claire Taylor

Old Delphinian, Claire Taylor, has been awarded an MBE in the 2010 New Year's Honours List. This latest honour completes an amazing year for Claire who was also named International Woman Cricketer of the Year at the Awards in South Africa in September! Claire also became the first woman in the 120 year history of WISDEN to be selected as one of its five Cricketers of the Year.

Winter Production

Lost Mate is a delightful, musical production which was brought to life by Year Five on two evenings in December.

Nursery Gallery Day

Saturday 28th November saw the children of Dolphin's Nursery proudly showing their families the work they have been doing this term at a special Gallery Morning.

Midsummer Night's Dream Performance

The Dolphin Shakespeare in Schools Festival cast performed Midsummer Night's Dream at the Norden Farm Arts Centre on Tuesday 6th October.

TV Success for Old Delphinian

Old Delphinian, Blake Ritson (Class of 1991) is currently playing Mr Elton in the BBC TV adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma on a Sunday night. Blake was a mainstay of many dramatic productions at Dolphin, probably most notably in the role of Puck in Midsummer Night’s Dream and the lead in Moliere’s Hypochondriac.

Science Week

The week commencing Monday 28^th September promises to be a very exciting experience for the entire Dolphin community! Science will be at the heart of all lessons and activities from Tuesday onwards! Science Week aims to excite the children about science and its application in the real world and work place.

Reading Advice Workshop

“Adventures in Reading” was the title of a fascinating evening at Dolphin on Monday 21 September. Hosted by Judy, who introduced us to the idea with a personal story of a child losing herself in a book, the guest speaker was Prue Goodwin, Literacy Consultant and doyenne of Primary PGCE courses up and down the land.

Shakespeare in Schools Festival

Dolphin performed Midsummer Night's Dream at Norden Farm Arts Centre on October 6th as part of the 2009 Shakespeare in Schools Festival.

2009 GCSE Success
Class of 2006 Old Delphinians have been named by their senior schools as top performers in this summer's GCSE results. We are delighted to congratulate Naomi Alderson at Leighton Park, Jamie Gilmour and Harriet Plaskitt at Bearwood College, Daisy Marino at the Abbey, Hannah Solel at Sir William Borlase and Adam Terry at Ranelagh.

Year 8 Art Exhibition

Year Eight were proud to present their Art exhibition showcasing the Art they have created on the subject of Conflict in its many forms and interpretations.

FunRaisers' Dinner Dance

FunRaisers, the Parent Teacher Association of Dolphin School in Hurst, held their first ever fund raising dinner dance at the Henley Management College on Saturday 27^th June.

Fostering Assembly

Members of Year 3, led by Sam, delighted and informed the whole school in assembly today with their knowledge and understanding of Fostering. They used a little role play to bring their message to life.

Claire Taylor Visits Dolphin

Old Delphinian and the world's top female cricketer, Claire Taylor, delighted a group of girls from Years 6, 7 & 8 when she came along to run a cricketing skills workshop for them.

Spring Fair

Saturday 16th May saw the school field come alive with the eagerly awaited FunRaisers' Spring Fair.

Dolphin's Big Sleep Over

Dolphin’s first ever sleep-over was a resounding success! Over 60 children from Years Five to Eight spent the night on the hall floor and managed to raise over £500 for FunRaisers.

Writing Day
Tuesday 28th April saw Dolphin's inaugural Creative Writing Day.

World Story Telling Day

Year Seven delighted Nursery on Friday March 20th as part of World Story Telling Day.

Harrow Scholar
We are delighted for William in Year Eight who has secured a top academic scholarship to Harrow in September following a demanding three day assessment process.

West End Success
Congratulations to Sasha in Year Five who has secured a role in the West End production of Les Miserables as Eponine. Sasha was successful through the audition process against stiff competition. We wish her well with what we are sure will be an exciting experience.
