Dear Diary

Today was all right.  I arrived at school minutes early and didn't get caned.  Edward Vernon wasn't so lucky.  He received a thorough caning for being late.  Mr Hunbirch was in a grouchy mood, and made us pray for a whole period! We did maths before break.  We were learning about money.  At break, Catharine, Mary, Jane and myself had a contest to see who could hula their hoops for the longest.  Catharine won.  After break, we did a spelling test.  Although I got nine out of ten, Mr Hunbirch still shouted at me.  I told you he was in a grouchy mood.  We then took turns to read out bits of the bible.  After that we had lunch.  I had two chicken legs and bread which was very filling.  At lunch break Elizabeth Crochen, the school bully, was really mean to me all break and scared me into hiding in a bush.  After break, we had an English lesson and we wrote an account of our lives. We got more spelling homework.  Finally, it was home time.
