Royal Wedding Celebrations In Nursery

The Summer Term started with a day to celebrate the Royal Wedding.

The children enjoyed a short presentation about William's close family, and identified the Union Jack. They then made their own flags and souvenir plates. Some of the plates had a red, white and blue theme, and others had a picture of William and Kate in the centre. The children loved colouring patterns, scrunching tissue paper and cutting shapes to decorate their plates with.

A highlight of the day was the street party lunch. Bunting was put up in the courtyard outside the nursery and the children sat down the sides of long tables. The menu was hot dogs, pizza, salad and to finish 'Royal Wedding icecream'!

In the afternoon the teachers and children listened to wedding music and role played a traditional ceremony. The girls loved dressing up as bridesmaids, flower girls and the bride even wore a viel over her face as she walked down the aisle. The boys had tophats and the bestman took his role very seriously! The ceremony ended with the bride giving her groom a gentle kiss and blossom was thrown as confetti over the bridal party. It, like the 'actual' wedding, was a day to remember!
