The nursery children are already captivated by the stories we are sharing with them this term.

We started our Story Time topic by looking at all different shapes, sizes and types of books. Snowy winter weathr took hold which provided the perfect opportunity to share stories with the children.

We have developed a winter weather table and display board in nursery. The children had fantastic fun making footprints and trails in fresh snow on the field as well as building a snowman of course! We collected a tray of deep snow and took it into nursery. We watched cracks develop and water emerge as the snow slowly melted. Birds can suffer in this cold weather and we have been busy making our own feeders with yoghurt pots filled with a tasty mixture of raisins, seeds, breadcrumbs and lard!

Sleeping Beauty was the first traditional tale we told to the children. It's nice to tell stories as well as read them as it can give you great scope to include actions, emphasize certain story points whilst keeping eye contact with the children. The children have sponge painted their own castles having been inspired by numerous images, and have loved dressing up as kings, princes, knights, princesses and queens in the role play area! They were fascinated by the spinning wheeel demonstrated in our nursery by one of our children's grandmas.

This week we are exploring Little Red Riding Hood with our 'dressing up for charity day' being a highlight. Some year 8 children have visited to talk about the charity we are collecting for. Thank you so much for all your donations. So far we have raised the wonderful sum of £62.81 for the Thames Valley Adventure Playground.
