Nicholas Denton was one of the original 25 Dolphin pupils and went on to secondary school at University College School followed by University College, Oxford. As a new graduate he landed a job as the Budapest Correspondent for the Financial Times. He subsequently became their first IT editor. He made his name with Moreover.com, a company which aggregated news content from across the web.

Nick left the FT to found First Tuesday and co-found Moreover Technologies with David Galbraith and Angus Bankes who had both been at University College School with him. He was a virtual millionaire until the dot com collapse. He co-authored a book, All That Glitters, about the collapse of Barings Bank.

In an Observer article of 27th June, 2004, Nick was identified as one of ‘eighty prodigiously talented young people’ whom they predicted would define the country’s culture, politics and economics for a generation. He also featured in a Vanity Fair photoshoot.

Nick moved to New York a few years ago to set up Gawker Media which funds popular weblogs through advertising revenue.

He recently appeared in the Sunday Times Rich List 2007 in position 502 with an estimated wealth of £140m based on the sale of his previous companies and the current value of Gawker Media.
