It was snowing the day before, all day,

Like a blizzard.

The next day there was fresh snow, shining soft,

Like a long mattress spread out across the slopes.

The sky above was blue, like a summer’s day,

And the sun was blinding bright.

We snaked down the Black Run,

Our skis swooshed through the newly fallen snow,

We stopped thinking and just enjoyed it.

On the best days, with few people out,

We could swoop down like a bird

And float back up in the bubble.

On the last up we stop at the coffee shop,

The hot chocolate is as frothy and warm as a hug.

Then we glide down the empty slopes, like kings.
