Curiosity
I picked up a snail
Today from a tree trunk -
This seems harsh.
Snail! You are so small!
How can you slide up
Vertically and not slip?
As if there was no
Such thing as magic!
You are too scared
To answer me. I am too
Excited to insist.
Snail! Tell me your secrets
Like my best friend.

Ode To A Tadpole
I picked up a tadpole
Today from the pond -
This seems childish.
Tadpole! You are too small.
How can you grow?
Then break out of that egg?
As if there was no
Such thing as a teenager.
You're too small
To answer me. I am too
Frightened to persuade you.
Tadpole! Don't be slithery
Like a long worm.
