The Forgotten Child by Hannah

He crept round the corner, breathing so slightly he could hardly hear it.  He was dressed from head to toe in black, only with eye and mouth holes showing.  He turned onto 5th Avenue; the trees swayed from side to side as though in unison.

The lady cradled the child in her arms like a baby.  She looked out of her window into the dark and peaceful night.  Although it was only October it felt like December.  You could feel the coldness around you; you just want to cuddle up and feel warm.  The doctor had a rueful expression.  She sighed, she just didn't have enough money for her daughter's operation.

Doctor Rushmore walked out of the patients' room.  He had no expression whatsoever on his face.  He returned to his desk and sighed, "Why is life so difficult?" he muttered.  The phone rang.
