As part of the co-curricular life of the school, we have developed The Delphic Challenge, an exciting activity and outward bound programme, open to all children in Years 6-8.
Delphic Challenge 2017-2018
There are 3 levels to the scheme: Bronze, Silver and Gold, which are awarded by achieving a personal programme of activities, specifically designed for and by each child.
The scheme comprises 5 different sections:
Expedition e.g. The Lake District, Snowdonia and the Alps
Service e.g. volunteering at a food bank, helping in an old people’s homes or reading to younger children
Skilled activity e.g. public speaking, conservation, fishing, app design and playing an instrument
Creativity portfolio e.g. mastering a repertoire of musical pieces or conducting scientific experiments
Project, writing an extended essay on a topic the child has researched
First and foremost the scheme is a great challenge and an amazing adventure. Every section completed allows the children to acquire new skills, make new friends, challenge themselves and develop their talents and passions. The scheme allows participants to get recognition for doing the things they love and to make a difference to other people’s lives and their community.
Some of the key skills that the award scheme is aiming to develop are independence, initiative and self-reliance and children are encouraged to take a proactive approach to completing their award.

We find Dolphin School to be a very special place - a warm and welcoming community where children learn life skills not just the curriculum.
