WEEKLY CALENDAR OF EVENTS NO. 412

Saturday 12 September – Sunday 20 September 2009

ISSUED Friday 11 September 2009

ALL

Welcome back for the new term.

BLACK MOUNTAINS WALK

As mentioned at the South Downs meeting, the Year 5 walk to the Black Mountains, scheduled for Saturday 12 September, is cancelled.

Gabriela Eddy will be starting clarinet and piano lessons and Virginia McMurtrie will be starting cello lessons on Monday 14 September. Please would all their pupils remember to bring their instruments and music.

Susie Fison has availability for flute lessons. If your child is interested, please drop a note into the school reception.

THANK YOU!

A huge thank you to the parents who have transformed the playground into a fun, colourful area. We all appreciate the time taken to improve our environment.

Midsummer Night’s Dream Company

The Shakespeare in School Company will be taking part in a workshop at Norden Farm in Maidenhead on Monday 14 September from 13.30-16.00. If parents wish they may collect their children in Maidenhead, otherwise we will be back at Dolphin at 16.30.

The following school policies are now published on our website: Safeguarding children; Curriculum; Discipline; Exclusion; Reward and Sanctions; Anti-Bullying; Health and Safety on School Visits and our Complaints Procedure, which includes the number of formal complaints before a panel in the last school year (none). The arrangements for the education and welfare provision for pupils with statements and for whom English is an additional language are available on request. The Staff List and Qualifications and Destinations of Leavers are also available to view.

Club Lists for the Autumn Term are on the club board in the Cloisters. Please check carefully which clubs your child will be going to and the days. If you wish to make changes or have any queries, please see Vivien in the office rather than the teacher running the club. Whilst we make every effort to run the clubs, there may be the occasional unforeseen circumstances which will oblige us to make changes.

Please may we remind parents to give a written note for all absences to the school office.

The 2009/10 Extended Synopsis are published on the website within the Dolphin Community Section under Teaching and Learning. You will need to be logged on to access this information. Log on details will remain unchanged. Please be aware that the Years 1, 2 and 3 French Synopsis has been changed.

A second-hand PE kit sale will be held on Tuesday 15 September after school.

Science Week !

The Science department are delighted to announce that the week commencing 28 September marks a week where there will be many activities involving science. We are hoping that parents who use science in their professions or hobbies may like to be included as part of the programme. Please see the letter that has been given to all the children at the beginning of term.

Would an enthusiastic parent like to volunteer to join our Autumn 2009 Cross Country club? It involves assisting every week on Mondays - 15.35 - 16.35. Volunteers please contact the school office.

Would parents please note that fees for the Autumn Term 2009 were due on 1st September 2009.

Please may we remind parents that the children should have all the necessary equipment for lessons in their pencil cases. The contents of these should include

· a fountain pen or other handwriting pen (not a biro)

· pencils and sharpener, colouring pencils

· rubber, and a ruler.

· A glue stick is useful

· children in Years 7and 8 should also have a scientific calculator.

There are children in school with nut allergies. Please do not send nuts or nut spreads into school.
