WEEKLY CALENDAR OF EVENTS NO. 430

Monday 22 February – Sunday 28 February 2010

ISSUED Friday 12 February 2010

ALL

Reminder that the school is closed from 15 – 19 February for Half Term.

Thank you to everyone who has returned their emergency contact forms. It is very important for your child’s welfare that all contact numbers and health record details are up to date. There are still a few of these forms outstanding. If you have not already done so, please return the forms as soon as possible. (If you have mislaid the papers, please ask for replacements from the school office.) Thank you to everyone who has returned their forms.

Please note that Dolphin follows point s50-51 of Teacher Net Supporting Pupils with Medical Needs – this is available to view if you wish (please contact Linda Charlesworth). We must ask you to only send to school medicines that you are happy for one member of staff to administer – the administration is recorded in the medications book. Children who require medicines for serious illness should not be sent to school.

Please note that the door codes have changed. Please ask your child or a member of staff for the new numbers.

The English Department has decided to celebrate World Book Day (Thursday 4 March) by asking the children to design a white t-shirt with a favourite book character or an idea for a brand new book cover. Anything goes as long at it is inspired by books! A letter has been sent home with suggestions.

A copy of our revised guidelines for use of school ICT equipment is available for viewing on the website, together with an e-safety policy and advice for parents on children and the internet at home. A letter regarding this has gone home to parents with children in Years 5 – 8. Please return the reply slip to the office after half term.

Please do not park in the disabled space in the school car park unless you hold a disabled badge. It is very difficult for drivers with disabled family members to park greater distance from the school entrance.

To simplify the procedure for the late return of library books, children will now be given two reminders then the cost of the book will be added to the next bill. We are keen to promote reading and so the simpler the procedure of dealing with late books the better.

May we remind parents that half a term’s notice is required for Judo and Music should your child wish to stop their tuition.

Will parents please note that Years 3,4,5,6 and 8 should be in the school hall, and Years 2 and 7 in their classrooms, at 8am ready for registration, having previously been to their cloakrooms. Reception and Year 1 should be in their classrooms by 8.45am. Some children are arriving consistently late for school.

We have been warned that there have been thefts from cars in Hurst. Please do not leave your bags or anything else valuable in your cars in the school car park.

Cotswold Camping are offering a 10% discount on production of a Dolphin School compliment slip with the number D2043. If you would like one, please ask the school office.

Funraisers

The next Hot Lunch will be on Friday 5 March kindly organised by Years 2 and 6 parents.

We break up this term on Thursday 1 April at normal finishing time, this is not a half day.

INFORMATION & REMINDERS

(Much of the information in this section is either statutory or is passed on to you at the request of our insurers/other advisors)

Would all parents please note: if you bring non-Dolphin children into school, those children must be supervised by you at all times.

May we remind everyone bringing children to school in the morning that they cannot be dropped off until 07.45. Before that time there are no staff available to be responsible for the children (unless part of a trip arrangement).

If your child is absent due to illness, please telephone or email the school office on the morning of the first day of absence. If you need to take your child out of school for any other reason, please drop in a note to the school office. For your children’s safety we need to know where they are during term time.

May we remind parents that the sky scales are only for children’s use when supervised by Dolphin staff. Please do not allow children to use them when they are in your care.
