The school chess tournament is on Thursday 7 February, NOT Saturday 2 February as written in the calendar. 1.15pm to 5.15pm please note later finish. Light refreshments available. This will be the first round of the British Land, there will be prizes at each round (7 rounds) and trophies for each overall age group winner. There are a few places left, contact Mrs Lawson if you want to join in

A family update form was posted to all parents last week. Please check the contents and return the form to the school office by 22 February.

Any unwanted DVDs (or good quality VHS) films would be gratefully accepted to add to our small collection for wet breaks in the hall and elsewhere. PG or U certificate. Please hand into the office for Mr Leakey's attention. Many thanks. We would also welcome donations of duplo for use in the hall at wet break.

Cheques for DVD of Play "The Importance of being a McGurgle" - please would you make cheques out to 'November Whiskey Productions' as soon as possible, and hand them in to the school office for Mr Leakey's attention, if you have not already done so. It would help if we could send all the cheques off together.

As part of the condition of Dolphin’s planning permission we are required to produce a travel plan. We have assured the council that we will promote car sharing and encourage walking or cycling to school wherever possible. The roads and paths around Hurst will only enable parents to allow children to travel in this way where they feel that the route is completely safe.

Thursday 31 January is National Bug Busting Day. Please remember to check your whole family’s hair for headlice. We would love Dolphin to be a headlice free school!

To all bus drivers, please note it is now mandatory to use the bus tachograph when driving in the UK. Boxes of sheets are in the bus glove compartment and there is an envelope in the driver’s window pocket for completed sheets.

Year 2

Gerry Wigglesworth will be running an extra papercraft club for Year 2 this term on Thursdays from 3.15-4.15. If you are interested please sign up on the list in the office.

Trip to Little Wittenham on Tuesday 29 January from 8am till 3pm. The children will need a disposable packed lunch and warm clothing as well as WELLINGTONS and waterproof trousers if possible. They will spend the whole day outdoors.

Year 5

Reminder that the Ironbridge trip meeting is on Thursday 31 January at 7.30pm in the school hall. Attendance at this meeting is essential if your child is to participate in this trip.

A letter about Dolphin Scholarships went out last week.

Year 6

There has been a change of date for the Year 6 trip to the Natural History Museum. This will now take place on Monday 10 March rather than Thursday 6 March.
