We have e-mailed a copy of our final Inspection report to you.   We are very pleased with it.   As we expected, your children are the real stars of it and phrases such as “the personal development of pupils is excellent . . .”, “the pupils’ exemplary behaviour . . .”, “the pupils’ excellent attitudes to their learning” and “Pupils’ social awareness is outstanding” show that they are a real credit to you.   Thank you, as always, for all your support.

For parents who do not have access to e-mail, please note that the school’s inspection report is available in hard copy from the Meadow Building Reception.

The final day of Term is Thursday 1 April.   We will finish at the normal time with the usual Thursday Clubs and After School Care.

The last Judo lesson for this term is on Tuesday 30 March.   Judo for the summer term starts on Tuesday 4 May.

Do take a look at our bird box which is now inhabited!    You can access the link through the Dolphin school website under Dolphin Community – eco-warriors-birdcam.   The access username is dolphins and the password is swim.

The Club Lists for the Summer Term will are now on the Clubs Board.   Please see Vivien in the office, rather than the member of staff running the club, if you have any queries or alterations.

Eco Warriors

There will be an Eco Warriors meeting on Tuesday 30 March at 12.20 in English 2.   Bring your lunch with you.

Library Books  

Please remember that all library books must be returned by Wednesday 31 March.   A charge will be made for books not returned.   Thank you.

Would any parent like to volunteer to help with occasional car driving for the summer term Triathlon club on Fridays?   It would not be every week.

INFORMATION & REMINDERS

As part of the condition of Dolphin’s planning permission we are required to produce a travel plan.   We have assured the Local Authority that we will promote car sharing and encourage walking or cycling to school wherever possible.   The roads and paths around Hurst will only enable parents t o allow children to travel in this way where they feel that the route is completely safe.

Tuberculosis (BCG) immunisation

The government’s immunisation programme f or school children is still not in operation.   Should you wish to discuss immunisation for your child, please contact the Chest Clinic at the Royal Berks Hospital or, if out of the area, the Practice Nurse at your GP ’s surgery.

Please be advised that we have had a confirmed case of Mumps in Year 7.

NURSERY

The Nursery Family Day is being held on Thursday 1 April.   Please arrive at your appointment time.

YEAR 1

Year 1 are invited to a French lunch on the 30 March. They will not need to bring their own lunch in that day.

YEARS 1 & 2

Years 1 and 2 need their costumes for their dragon (Y2) and Spiderman (Y1) dances next Wednesday 31 March.   Also, Dance Club need their Cartoon Caper costumes for Wednesday 31 March.   The children will be performing to the rest of the school in assembly, but unfortunately there is insufficient space for us to invite parents to join us on this occasion.   We will try to find a time when we can invite parents in to watch next term.

YEAR 5

The Brecon Beacons Trip Meeting (Year 5) will be held on Monday 29 March, 19.30 – 20.30 in the Hall It is essential that at least one parent attends this meeting to ensure informed consent.

YEARS 5, 6 & 7

A letter about Dolphin Scholarships was given to the children on 20 January.   If your child intends to apply for a Scholarship he or she should give Veronica Gibbs a letter to that effect by the end of this term.

YEAR 6
