A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Some of Year 6, 7 and 8 took part in the Shakespeare in Schools festival at
Norden
Park in Maidenhead earlier this week.
The performance was enormously successful; do look at some of the pictures on the website.
We hope to find an evening date to perform it one evening soon at school.
Science Week and Science Challenge
A huge thank you to all those parents who have participated in last week’s Science Week.
Thanks to you all for making it such a great success.
Congratulations to all those who participated in the dressing-up and the Inventions Challenge.
It was a magnificent effort.
Chess
There are three opportunities coming up to take on new challenges with the chess board:
Sunday 11 October Ridgeway School is hosting the Berkshire Junior Chess Trials
Thursday 15 October
Dolphin is hosting the Under 11 Chess Jamboree of Berkshire Schools 15.00-18.00. Dolphin is fielding 4 teams and the team sheets will be distributed early next week.
Saturday 17 October Dolphin is hosting one of the regular Saturday tournaments
from 14.00 to 17.30 (approx.) We would love to see
chess players who have been playing for a while but have not yet tried an individual tournament at this event. Plus of course the more experienced players amongst you all.
Details for all of the above can be found on the Berkshire Junior Chess website
Year 5 Play Practice
As well as the usual Monday practice on 12 October there will be a practice on Thursday 15 October . This will involve any year 5 who are not playing chess in the Jamboree.
A reminder to parents that Gabriela Eddy is unable to run her piano lessons on Monday 12 October.
The children have already been notified.
If you are already an online Amazon shopper, or you are thinking of becoming one, you may not be aware that you can benefit the children and support the funds for the school library by clicking through to Amazon from the link on Shopping at Amazon in the Community page of our website. If you already shop at Amazon then your account will still be recognised by your computer when you click on the link. We will then receive a small commission for each order placed in this way. Worth remembering when you start your Christmas shopping!!
Anyone can access Amazon in this way so perhaps encourage your friends and relatives to access Amazon via our website as well.
Would all parents please note:
if you bring non-Dolphin children into school, those children must be supervised by you at all times.
If your children have flu like symptoms they should stay away from school until they are free of those symptoms.
If you have any pandemic flu concerns you should contact the National Pandemic Flu Service on 0800 1513513 or www.pandemicflu.direct.gov.uk.
May we remind parents that half a term’s notice is required for Judo and Music should your child wish to stop their tuition.
Please would all girls with long hair that needs to be tied back for PE lessons, make sure that they have their own supply of hair bands and ties.
Small stud earings
only are acceptable at school.
