Please be aware that the school will be shut for Half Term from Monday 20^th October and we look forward to welcoming you back on 3^rd November.   Out best wishes go out to all the staff, children and parents who will be participating in our field trips to North Wales and Italy, as well as to all of you who will be enjoying a well earned break.

CUP DOUBLE – a first!  

Congratulations to the U13 and U11 six-a-side football teams who both won their respective tournaments held at the weekend at Leighton Park School.   It was a terrific effort from all the players.   Well done!

WALKING TRIPS ELIGIBILITY LIST

The list of pupils who are eligible for the walking trips (South Downs, Junior Lakes, Brecon Beacons and Senior Lakes) are now on the notice board by the daily timetable.   Pupils wishing to go on these trips now have to write a letter to Adam Warner explaining why they would like to go.   This letter must be signed by a parent or guardian and handed to Adam by 1^st December 2008.   If you have any queries regarding any aspect of the walking trips please see Adam.

The Cheltenham Literature Festival runs from 10th-19th October.   Check out their website www.cheltenhamfestivals.com.

Reminder – we need absence notes for ALL absences, including doctor’s appointments etc

Please ensure that if you wish your child to contact you by telephone, they have a phone card, the necessary cash or have memorised your phone credit card number.

FUNRAISERS

INDULGENCE EVENING - WEDNESDAY 19TH NOVEMBER AT 7.30PM

Tickets are now on sale for what promises to be the most relaxing and indulgent FunRaisers event for parents so far. Free hair styling and beauty demonstrations plus colour consultant top tips. Stalls with hair and beauty products, beautiful greetings cards, clothes, jewellery, photography and more. Mini fashion show featuring Dolphin children. Also Champagne & Wine Bar, plus delicious Indian nibbles and a Chocolate Fountain.

TICKETS ONLY £5, includes a glass of bubbly & nibbles.

Thank you to the organisers and supporters of the FunRaisers Family Social & BBQ last Friday afternoon. The children had a wonderful time creating masks, decorating cakes, trying out their circus skills and blowing giant bubbles in the playground! We hope that parents found a few minutes to socialise over a drink and hotdog! Over £500 was raised for school projects.

RECEPTION

Trip to Dinton Pastures on Monday 13^th October from 10.00 – 14.00.  A letter has been given out detailing what the children should bring and wear on the day.

YEAR 1

Trip to Chiltern Open Air Museum on Tuesday 14^th October from 08.30 – 15.30 (please note late return time).   The children will need warm waterproof clothing, wellingtons, and a disposable packed lunch.

YEARS 1&2

The Creative Activities club is cancelled for Friday 17^th October as Mrs. Alderson is on the Italy Trip.

YEAR 5

Reminder:   Please hand in your child’s passport and EHIC health card to Mr. Leakey before half term, unless you need it for the holiday.   Pocket money also to Chantal please.

YEARS 5&6

Netball Club cancelled on Thursday 16^th October.

YEAR 6

Please bring your bags into school by midday on Thursday 16^th (parents and staff as well please).   These should be in a black plastic bag and should be clearly labelled with your name.   Please remember that bags on wheels are not suitable.

Please arrive for the North Wales trip at 07.20 on Friday 17^th October.

YEARS 6&7

Adventure Week – Information about the Adventure Week which happens in September has been sent home with the children.   If you have not received one, please collect a leaflet from Reception.   Those wishing to come on the trip need to fill in the form and return it to Reception.   Pupils are selected on a first come first served basis on receipt of the deposit.

YEARS 7 & 8

Children in Years 7&8 need not attend school on Wednesday 15^th October, but we would ask if they could be available for any scheduled matches.   However, we are aware that childcare arrangements mean that some children will need to be in school all day on Wednesday and a revised timetable will be arranged for them.

The bags for the Italy trip (which SHOULD HAVE WHEELS) should be brought into school on Wednesday 15^th October before midday.   If your child is staying at home on Wednesday, please bring the bag in on Tuesday.   Italy trip departs at 04.15 on Thursday 16^th October.

Italy handbook should be in day back pack with sketch book and pencils.

ITALY TRIP – A reminder that the flight details for the return flight from Pisa on Monday 27 October have changed. The group will now be returning on Easyjet flight 5232 arriving at Gatwick (South) at 10.45am.

YEAR 8

Exams this year will be on 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd (Monday – Wednesday) December, followed by Parents Evening on Thursday 11^th December.
