WEEKLY CALENDAR OF EVENTS NO. 360

Monday 10 March – Sunday 16 March 2008

ISSUED Friday 7 March

ALL

The final day of term, Thursday 20 March, will finish at normal time with the usual Thursday clubs and ASC.

Please note that the telephone number to contact After School Care is 07795 824424.

There will be two school concerts held next week. On Thursday evening the concert will start at 7.30pm in the Hall and will involve children in Years 5-8 as well as those children in Years 3 and 4 who play in the orchestra. Ideally the children should arrive by 7pm. Parents are cordially invited.

On Friday the concert will be held during school time from 11.00am till 12.30pm in Hall. The performers here will be Reception to Year 4 as well as older children who are involved in the orchestra. Again you are cordially invited to attend.

Please will all musicians ensure that they have their instruments and music in school every day next week.

Congratulations to four more Year 8 children who gained scholarships. At Leighton Park: Charlotte was awarded an academic exhibition, Jennifer gained a minor academic scholarship and Lucy secured a major music scholarship. At Leckford Place, Oxford: Octavia gained an academic scholarship.

Congratulations to Daniel who has been awarded the title ‘Scholar’ at Harrow after an exceptional performance in their scholarship exams. This is in addition to the Peter Beckwith Award which he secured last term.

Congratulations to the U11 Netball team for reaching the Prep School National Final at Roedean School on Saturday 15 March, after reaching 6th place out of 41 teams in the Southern Region Tournament last Thursday at High Wycombe.

Friday 14 March is Sport Relief Day. We are planning to hold a cake sale with all proceeds going towards Sport Relief. We would appreciate contributions for this – please leave cakes in the hall by the kitchen. Children should bring in a small amount of money – around £2 to £4 would be fine.

FunRaisers meeting on Tuesday 11 March at 7.30pm in the History room. All parents are welcome to attend.

Children may bring in their own balls to play with at break if they wish. However, these should not be kept in the changing rooms but another safe area which they can discuss with their form teachers. Please do not give them hockey, cricket, squash or other hard balls to bring to school.

The current provision for match teas is squash, fruit, baked crisps/low fat crisps, cereal bars and chocolate covered biscuits. After playing sport, children need water, salt and sugar. Of course, parents may choose to provide a snack or tea for their own children instead.

Children should have their own recorders in school but if they need to borrow a school recorder there are antiseptic wipes for their use in the music room.

A lilac Corsa, registration RF56 JGY, parked at the edge of the school car park (near the rubbish bins) was damaged on 29 February 2008. If you have any information on this please contact the school reception. Reception staff will give you the owner’s contact details.
