WEEKLY CALENDAR OF EVENTS NO. 423
Monday
28December – Sunday 10 January 2010
ISSUED Friday 11 December 2009
ALL
Season’s Greetings to all Dolphin families!
We would like to wish you and your families a happy and restful break and look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 5th January.
We would also like to extend our good wishes to any who are leaving us this term.
Please take all children’s belongings home from their lockers/pegs at the end of term.
Please return all library books this week.
Thank you.
YEAR 5 PLAY – 16 AND 17 December
Year 5 are working extremely hard this year on the production of ‘Lost Mate’ and are eagerly awaiting you as an audience.
We would like you to sign up at Reception for the day(s) that you intend to attend.
This is to help us with seating arrangements and ensure that all have a comfortable view.
This does not guarantee a specific seat.
Please note that Judo will be cancelled on 15 December because of the arrangements for the school play.
The club lists for the Spring term are on the board.
If you have a query or change regarding the bookings please speak to Vivien in the office rather than the teacher running the club.
Cello lessons will be on Wednesday 16 rather than Monday 14 this week.
Singing lessons will recommence the week of January 11.
There will be no singing lessons the week of January 18 as Mrs. Maltese is unavoidably absent.
These lessons will be made up later in the term.
There will be a Dolphin Choir performance at Earley St. Peter’s Church on Saturday 12 December, 19.00 – 21.00.
If you wish to order an O2 DVD and haven’t already done so, orders need to be in by Monday 21 December at the latest.
Please remember that your child will need a warm coat for outside play.
Hats and gloves are important when the weather is especially cold.
Dolphin has never yet shut because of bad weather.
Our normal procedure in bad weather is to open at the usual time and shut at 15.30, cancelling clubs and afterschool care to enable everyone to get home early.
If you are concerned in the morning please do not ring the school.
Radio
Berkshire (tune into 104.4FM and 104.1FM) will be broadcasting a list of schools which are closed and we will make sure they know.
We will also publish the plan for the day on ‘today’s notice’ on our website as soon as possible.
If your children are unable to attend school, or will be late for school, because of the weather, please only ring us after 10.00 to keep the telephone lines free in case any of the teaching staff need to ring us.
We are now able to send text messages so please check your phones for match information if the weather is bad.
Please note that our text messages will show up as coming from “Bulksmscouk”.
These are genuine and not spam messages.
INFORMATION & REMINDERS
(Much of the information in this section is either statutory or is passed on to you at the request of our insurers/other advisors)
May we take this opportunity to remind parents that fees for the Spring Term 2010 are due on 1 January 2010.
May we remind parents that half a terms notice is required for Judo and Music should your child wish to stop their tuition.
May we remind parents not to park in the areas reserved for school vehicles.
As pare of the condition of Dolphin’s planning permission we are required to produce a travel plan.
We have assured the Local Authority that we will promote car sharing and encourage walking or cycling to school wherever possible.
The roads and paths around
Hurst will only enable parents to allow children to travel in this way where they feel that the route is completely safe.
FUNRAISERS
Funraisers would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped with the recent Retro Evening. A fun and successful night was enjoyed by all with some fantastic outfits on show, themed entertainment and delicious food.
Thank you to all those who came and supported the evening and helped raise a profit of just over £400.
Funraisers are also grateful to the Eco Warrior team and other organizers of last week’s Hot Lunch.
A slightly different menu incorporated some tasty local food and drink and £300 was raised for charity.
The Children’s school disco will now be on 15 January.
