If your child wishes to participate in the Summer Activity Week (26-30 July) please sign up at Reception soon. We need at least 25 children to make it viable. Adam

House Music: Mr. Cooper has given some children pieces of music to practise for the House Music event on Monday 24 May. More may follow.

The club lists for this term will be available in a folder in the School Reception if you need to check them.

If you have a Nursery (or pre-Nursery!) age child you may be interested in coming on a school tour, particularly if your older child joined us after Nursery. Do get in touch with Jan Vernon if this is of interest to you.

The children had their class and sports teams photos taken this week. Order packs for these are due to be delivered to the school during the week commencing 24 May. These will be sent home with the children for you to order direct from Tempest.

On Wednesday 14 July the popular storyteller, Cat Weatherill, will be visiting Dolphin to tell us stories. Parents are very welcome to come and listen to her stories with their children. The day will start with her telling stories to Years 6, 7 & 8 from 09.00, then – Years 4 & 5 – 10.30-11.20, Years 2 & 3 will be from 11.30-12.20. Nursery, Reception and Year 1 will be from 14.00- 14.50. This will be followed by a book-signing from 15.00-16.00. The children will have the opportunity to buy her children’s books at a reduced rate. Do join us in the hall if you can for what promises to be an entertaining event.

If any non-bus driver parent would like to volunteer for a residential trip for the academic year 2010/2011 please take a form from the office. It needs to be returned by 28 May.

FUNRAISERS

FunRaisers would like to thank all the children who came to the second Big Sleepover last Friday as well as the staff and parents who volunteered to help. A fun evening of games, hot chocolate, snacks and a film was enjoyed by all. Over 50 children slept soundly in the hall (until 07.30!) when they were awoken by the sound of breakfast being prepared. A grand total of £350 was raised from this event.

INFORMATION & REMINDERS

(Much of the information in this section is either statutory or is passed on to you at the request of our insurers/other advisors)

Children are going to be reminded in assembly to keep their school bags as light in weight as possible. May we ask parents to help children to select only the books and equipment required for the current day.

May we remind parents that the Sky Scales are only for children’s use when supervised by Dolphin staff. Please do not allow children to use them when they are in your care.

Will all parents please note that if for any reason you cannot collect your children on time, they must got to After School Care (Reception to Year 5) or Homework Club (Years 6 – 8).

YEAR 3

Trip to Brooklands on Monday 17 May, 08.00 – 16.30. The children will need a picnic lunch in a disposable carrier, a waterproof/warm coat and sensible footwear.

YEAR 4

On Tuesday 18 May Year 4 will be going on a theatre trip up to the Unicorn Theatre in London to watch The Tempest. We will leave mid-morning and be back at 18:30.Please note that the return time is now one hour later than the previous update The children only need their lunch, preferably in a disposable bag.

YEAR 6

Please bring in your packed rucksacks on Monday 17 May for a full kit check including your walking boots in preparation for the Year 6 Brecon Beacons walking trip. Alison Alderson.

YEARS 6 & 7

Advance notice that the trip meeting for the Normandy trip will be held on Monday 13 September at 19.30 in the school hall. A letter giving some details of the itinerary will be sent home in June.

YEAR 7

On Friday 18 June we will be going to a writers’ workshop run by the highly respected author, Marcus Sedgwick, at Eagle House School. We will be back at school by 17.00. The children will need to bring along some money if they want to buy his books and get them signed. A suggested amount would be £10.

Parents are invited to attend a screening of Year 7’s documentaries on Tuesday 25 May at 09.30 in the Hall

YEAR 7 & 8

The exam timetable for half term has gone out.

Those selected for the Gloucestershire Tennis/Cricket Tour should have now received their letters with the travel details and kit list.

The teams will leave Dolphin at 13.00 on 21May and return 17.00 approx. on Saturday 22. We wish them all the best in what will be a challenging weekend.
