Thank you very much to all the Nursery parents and children who donated money for the Thames Valley Adventure Playground on Wednesday 20 January. The children came dressed up as traditional story characters. We raised £62.81 on the day.

The Sports Activity Week will again be running at the end of the summer term, 26 – 30 July. A sign-up sheet and information will be available in Reception next week. Adam

A pupil data check sheet has been posted to all parents. Please check the contents and return the form to the school office by 26 February.

IAPS Girls Judo Congress will be held on Saturday 23 January, 08.00 – 13.00 at High Wycombe Judo Centre. A letter giving further details has been sent home with the participating children.

Cotswold Camping are offering a 10% discount on production of a Dolphin School compliment slip with the number D2043. If you would like one, please ask the school office.

Please remember that your child will need a warm coat for outside play. Hats and gloves are important when the weather is especially cold.

Will parents please note that if for any reason you cannot collect your children on time, they must go to After School Care (Reception to Year 5) or Homework Club (Years 6-8).

Would all drivers entering the school car park please note that their speed should be limited to a walking pace. All drivers should also be aware that children from a very young age (albeit under their parents’ responsibility) may be in the car park area.

NURSERY

Trip to Wokingham Library on Tuesday 26 January, 09.00 – 12.00 Children will need waterproofs and wellingtons

There is a Parents Evening for new parents to the Nursery on Tuesday 26 January, 19.30 – 21.00 in Nursery.

RECEPTION

The Royal Berkshire NHS Audiology Testing Unit will be carrying out their annual test on our Reception class children on 29 January. The parents of the children involved have been notified by letter.

YEAR 1

Hydestile Animal Hospital Workshop on Monday 25 January, 10.30 – 12.30.

YEAR 3

East Sussex Trip meeting on Monday 25 January, 19.30 in the Hall. It is important that at least one parent attends. You will receive a letter and consent form to be filled in and returned on the night.

YEAR 4

The South Downs walking trip will take place on Saturday 19 June. At the moment it does not appear on the school calendar.

YEARS 4-8

A reminder from the PE Department that the children must have a gumshield in school every day.

YEAR 5

16 March Ironbridge Trip meeting. It is essential that at least one parent attends this meeting to ensure informed consent.

YEARS 5, 6 & 7

A letter about Dolphin Scholarships was given to the children on 20 January. If your child intends to apply for a Scholarship they should give Veronica Gibbs a letter to that effect by the end of this term.

YEARS 5-8

If there are any more pupils wishing to go on a walking trip in the summer, I need a short letter from you as soon as possible explaining why you would like to go. This letter also needs to be counter-signed by a parent/guardian. Adam Warner

YEAR 6

A few pupils will be invited to participate in the Eagle House Maths Challenge (A) on Thursday 28 January, 13.00 – 17.00 . They will receive letters next week

YEAR 7

Stratford Theatre trip on Thursday 28 January. We will be leaving at 08.00 promptly and should be back by 18.30. We will attend a workshop based on the RSC’s production of Arabian Nights and watching the show after lunch. The children will need to bring with them a snack and no more than £15 to buy lunch, a theatre programme and an ice cream during the interval.

RAISING MONEY FOR HAITI

Micah Richmond, Ruth Adams and Peter Robinson are arranging a Bring and Buy sale on Monday 25 January from 15.00 to 16.00. Please bring any good quality toys, books, DVD’s, games etc that you think others would like to buy and leave them in Reception on Monday morning. All proceeds will be sent to a charity supporting relief for Haiti. The red box in the Hall is also being used for any money donations children and parents would like to make.

YEAR 8

Poetry Trip to the Hexagon in Reading on Tuesday 26 January. The children will need a disposable lunch. They will be leaving at 09.30 and return at 15.00
