WEEKLY UPDATE AND CALENDAR OF EVENTS NO. 445
Monday 28 June – Sunday 4 July 2010
ISSUED Friday 25 June2010
ALL
Many thanks to all the children and staff who made the Senior Concert such an enormous success.
Many thanks also to our most appreciative audience!
You are cordially invited to the Junior Concert (Reception - Year 4) on Monday 28 June, 13.30 – 15.00 in the hall.
Reminder that with the onset of hotter weather, the children will need sun cream protection and hats.
Dolphin summer hats (in House colours) are available to buy from Reception for £5.
A reminder that FunRaisers have a suggestions box in the School Reception.
PE kit:
We are changing our PE kit slightly to embroidered logos, and the T-shirts will have polo collars.
John Lewis has reduced all the old screen printed kit to half price in the sale.
Of course the children may wear the old kit until it wears out.
To avoid confusion regarding Dolphin notice periods and so that the situation is always clear for parents and for the School, the School Contract with parents has been amended.
It now states that one term’s notice or fees in lieu of, is required.
The deadlines for one term’s notice are 31 August for the Spring Term, 31 December for the Summer Term and 31 March for the Autumn term.
Please let us know as many of you already do, future plans such as moving to other locations.
The amended notice periods allow us to move forward to a more concise situation for all concerned.
Parents who have given us other types of notice will be written to separately.
Vouchers:
Does anyone have any Sainsbury’s or Tesco’s vouchers left – We are doing the final count up now.
Thank you all for bringing in so many vouchers.
Brass Instruments:
Lucy Head has some availability for Brass lessons in September.
If you are interested please drop a note into the school office.
Chess Tuition:
The club offered by the chess master Thomas Rendle will be on the club lists.
Dolphin Night this year is on Tuesday 20 July at 19.30 in the school hall.
This is the occasion where the school says farewell to our Year 8.
All children from Year 5 – 8 are expected to attend for the evening, wearing smart clothes please.
Anyone who has won a trophy will be awarded it on this occasion.
Some children younger than Year 5 will be invited to receive Junior House trophies.
Children from Years 5 – 7 may be collected at around 21.00.
The staff would like to invite the families of Year 8 to join them after Dolphin Night for a party in the Basilica.
SPORTS DAYS
Cottage Sports Day (Rec & Year 1)
will be held on Monday 12 July 10.30-12.00 and Nursery Sports on Wednesday 14 July at 10.00 – 12.00.
Letters with further details will be sent home.
Junior Sports Day
(Years 2,3 & 4) –Friday 9 July
10.30-12.30.
You may take Juniors home after Sports Day, if you sign them out in the School Reception, there will be lessons for those who remain in school
Senior Sports Day
(Years 5, 6, 7 & 8) Friday 9 July
13.30-15.30
Years 2-8
Please feel free to bring a picnic lunch to share with your child on the field.
Ice creams and ice lollies will be on sale between the two sports sessions.
Parents often ask if siblings may attend their brother’s and sister’s sports days.
We would prefer that siblings remain in lessons and do not accompany their brothers and sisters.
We wish to keep each sports day special to that particular age group.
Children from different age groups attending their sibling’s sports days have in the past been rather a distraction to the event.
Sports Day Clothing Years 2-8:
The children will need to wear a T-shirt (without a design) in their house colours (white - York, green – Tudor, red –
Lancaster and yellow – Plantagenet).
(Year 2’s new houses are to be announced.)
They should also wear the rest of their normal PE kit (shorts, tracksuit tops and bottoms) and bring a sun hat, ideally in house colours, which may be purchased from reception.
The children should have suncream and water.
Please park as per the caretakers’ instructions and drive at walking pace on the field and in parking areas.
Please shut the overflow gate if you enter or exit while it is closed.
Has anyone got any old tights that they could give to the PE Department?
They will be used to make ties for the 3-legged races!
Thank you.

INFORMATION & REMINDERS
(Much of the information in this section is either statutory or is passed on to you at the request of our insurers/other advisors)
May we remind you that we wrote to all families in January regarding Travel cover for schools and enclosed a copy of the policy summary.
The full policy document is held in Linda Charlesworth’s office for inspection whenever you wish.
Our insurers request that we twice yearly draw your attention to the exclusions (which are listed on the summary document).
Should you have any queries please contact Veronica Gibbs or Linda Charlesworth.
Visas
:
Please note that all visa arrangements are the responsibility of a child’s parents or guardians.
Parents of children with non-EU passports must ensure that their children can exit from and re-enter the
UK.
If the above assurance is not in place your child may be prevented from travelling with the school group.
If you are in any doubt that your child can travel you must notify the school and contact the trip leader or Linda Charlesworth.
