Monday 12 July – Sunday 18 July 2010
ISSUED Friday 9 July 2010
ALL
On Wednesday 14 July the popular storyteller, Cat Weatherill, will be visiting Dolphin to tell us stories. Parents are very welcome to come and listen to her stories with their children. The day will start with her telling stories to Years 6, 7 & 8 from 09.00 – 10.00, then Years 4 & 5 – 10.30-11.20, Years 2 & 3 will be from 11.30-12.20. Reception and Year 1 will be from 14.00- 14.50. This will be followed by a book-signing from 15.00-16.00.
You may like to send in £5 with your child so that they can purchase one of her books if they wish.
Do join us in the hall if you can for what promises to be an entertaining event.
For those who have signed up for the Young Voices Choir concerts at Royal Albert Hall and O2 Arena – the children have been given their song sheets to begin learning over the summer.
More information about ticket sales for these concerts will follow next term.
Please make sure you sign your child up for the relevant choir club for rehearsals next term.
If any other children in Years 2-5 would like to join in please see Jacquie Champion.
Club Lists for the Autumn Term went home yesterday; extra copies are available in the office.
Please return to the school office by 15 July.
The lists of children attending each club will be on the board before the end of term.
Please see Vivien with any queries or problems rather than the teacher running the club.
Please would everyone return their books to the library by Wednesday 14 July.
Thank you.
Judo is cancelled on 20 July because of the Leavers’ Evenings taking place in the School Hall.
Reminder that with the onset of hotter weather, the children will need sun cream protection and hats.
Dolphin summer hats (in House colours) are available to buy from Reception for £5.
PE kit:
We are changing our PE kit slightly to embroidered logos, and the T-shirts will have polo collars.
John Lewis has reduced all the old screen printed kit to half price in the sale.
Of course the children may wear the old kit until it wears out.
Instruments:
Susie Fison has some availability for flute lessons and.
Lucy Head has some availability for Brass lessons in September.
If you are interested in either please drop a note into the school office.
Dolphin Night this year is on Tuesday 20 July at 19.30 in the school hall.
This is the occasion where the school says farewell to our Year 8.
All children from Year 5 – 8 are expected to attend for the evening, wearing smart clothes please.
Anyone who has won a trophy will be awarded it on this occasion.
Some children younger than Year 5 will be invited to receive Junior House trophies.
Children from Years 5 – 7 may be collected at around 21.00.
The staff would like to invite the families of Year 8 to join them after Dolphin Night for a party in the Basilica.
JR Rugby Camp:
This week the children have taken home with them a card giving details of the Rugby Camp which JR Rugby are holding at Dolphin in August.
A discount of 25% is being offered to Dolphin pupils.
Please direct all enquiries to JR Rugby (Josh on 07837 932 176 or Rich on 07813 827 621).
We are pleased to have JR Rugby at the School, but the camp is not a Dolphin School Event.

Please may we remind parents and children that there should be no tennis or football played directly in front of the school gate – either first thing in the morning or after school as there is a danger of someone being hurt as they enter or leave the premises.
