WEEKLY CALENDAR OF EVENTS NO. 364

Monday 21 April – Sunday 27 April 2008

ISSUED Friday 18 April

ALL

We look forward to the House Music festival on Thursday morning (24 April). Please remind children to wear their house colours on Thursday. Due to the capacity of the school hall there will be limited room for parents, so please collect a free ticket from the school office from Monday afternoon (a maximum of 2 per family) in order to be sure of a seat. It is unlikely that there will be any room on the day for anyone without a ticket.

Congratulations to Mr Dean-Lewis who has passed his PCV Test.

Hot Lunch Friday 25 April. Your usual favourites plus some new surprises. All children will need money in a named purse. Small change please!

Cakes Please - we rely on your donations of cakes/biscuits to sell at each hot lunch. Home-made or purchased; both are equally popular. Small portions do work best! Please leave all offerings in the hall on Friday. Thank you.

If any non-bus driver parent would like to volunteer to drive the school people carriers for a residential trip for the academic year 2008/9 please take a form from the reception desk, it needs to be returned as soon as possible.

May we remind everyone bringing children to school in the morning that they cannot be dropped off until 7.45am. Before that time there are no staff available to be responsible for the children (unless part of a trip arrangement).

Please note that all visa arrangements need to be handled by a child’s parents or guardians. This will include notifying the school that a child’s visa may prevent them travelling with the school group. In this situation you must notify the school that it needs to apply to use the “List of Travellers’ Visa Waiver Scheme”.

Please note that parents of children with Non EU passports must ensure that their children can exit from and re-enter the UK. If not we must be informed by their parents so that we can apply for the above List of Travellers’ Waiver Form.

If your child is using their passport to travel with a Dolphin school party please ensure that you keep a photocopy of the child’s passport in your home.

Another call for plastic bags!! The art department is collecting yellow, red and pink, also gold plastic bags for our big art project on the tennis courts. Anything waterproof in those colours will be perfect e.g. rainwear, also fruit netted bags (orange).

Summer Fun for Years 2-8!

There will be a multi-activity Dolphin course running at school from 21-25 July (the week after term finishes). Drama and music workshops plus a variety of sports all led by specialist teachers will take in the mornings. Afternoon activities will be off site and will include laser quest, skiing, ice skating and swimming at Coral Reef. The week is being organised by Adam Warner, an ex-Dolphin teacher, who is returning in September. For more details pick up an information sheet from the school office.

St Paul’s will close their lists for possible entry in 2011 on Friday 25 May this year. All parents who may be interested in St Paul’s should register by the closing date as all registration forms received after this date will unfortunately have to be declined.

Please ensure that if you wish your child to contact you by telephone, they have a phone card, the necessary cash or have memorized your phone credit card number.

May we remind everyone that dogs are not allowed on the School Premises.

YEAR 2

Trip to Wyld Court on Tuesday 22 April from 8.15am to 3pm. The children will need a disposable packed lunch in a small rucksack.

An envelope has been distributed to the Year 5 children with lots of information about the Junior Lakes. Parents should find it in the children’s bags.

YEAR 5 & 6

The Year 5 & 6 Monday tennis club has been split. However the children can do lunchtime tennis with Juliet on Tuesdays, if they wish, for the other half term. Their names have already been put down, so please see Vivien in the office only if your child does not wish to do half a term of lunchtime tennis as well as a half a term of Monday after school tennis club.
