WEEKLY UPDATE AND CALENDAR OF EVENTS NO.490

Monday 17 October – Sunday 23 October 2011

ISSUED Friday 14 October 2011

ALL

Dolphin School’s production of Macbeth: Do look on the school website for the interview that some of the members of the Dolphin School's Macbeth were part of on Radio Berkshire. Our marketing team has been working very hard to promote the performance.

Parent and Toddler Sessions: We are running more of our successful free parent and toddler sessions in nursery this term. They will be held from 10.00am until 11.30am on Wednesday 19 October and 9 & 16 November. There will be music, games, toys and plenty of coffee for the parents! Do come along.

Reception morning special: We are also offering a special session on Saturday 12 November for any children who are Reception age in this current school year (Date of birth between 1.9.06 and 31.8.07). Activities on offer include cooking, learning in German and some sport. The children will take home a personalised photo album of their day plus their self-made biscuits!

If you know of anyone with children of this age then please inform them of this opportunity.

We are very pleased with our new water fountain, recently installed on the field. The water fountain was the project of last year’s School Council and was bought by FunRaisers. A big thank you goes to last year’s School Council, the FunRaisers for their support and Linda Charlesworth,Tony and Alex for installing it for us.

This year’s School Council has been elected and our congratulations go to our new representatives: Erin Watts and

Max Meadows in Year 4, Melissa Scanlon and Micah Barendse in Year 5, Maya McCarthy and Paris Ferguson in Year 6, Charlotte Holt and Edward Fry in Year 7, and Clare Pearson and Hal Watts in Year 8. (Chantal – School Council leader)

FunRaisers: are holding a Christmas wreath making evening on Wednesday 14 December at 7.30pm. Tickets are £20 and include tuition and materials for the festive wreath you will create and take home to keep. There will be complimentary mulled wine and mince pies available. Numbers are limited to 30 people and therefore places need to be confirmed and paid for in advance. Tickets are available in the school Reception.

The next Hot Lunch will be on Thursday 17 November organised by Year 5 and Reception.

The next FunRaisers meeting is Thursday 1 December, 7.30pm, in the History Room.

The repair of the potholes on the area outside the school entrance will now take place during half term. Our plans for repair have been delayed by the Thames Water work outside the school.

Car Park: Please remember that once children pass out of the school grounds (through the gate at the Meadow Reception) with their parents they become their parents’ responsibility. Children may not pass through the Meadow Reception gate unless they are in the charge of an adult.

St Patrick's Community Church Hall, Charvil is under threat of closure. If you or your child/ren have links to St. Patrick’s as a drama or other group member, please access http://www.fostpat.webs.com/ for more details.
