WEEKLY UPDATE AND CALENDAR OF EVENTS NO.481

Monday 27 June - Sunday 3 July 2011

ISSUED Friday 24 June 2011

ALL

Many congratulations to all the children who contributed to our very successful Senior Concert this week. Thank you also to our appreciative and patient audience.

An exciting letter has been sent out by the English department inviting you to a family evening of poetry and fun with the dragon-loving poet, Nick Toczek on 4 July. Free tickets available from Reception. Please refer to the letter for all necessary information. Vivien will have copies if the letter has gone astray.

FunRaisers would like to thank everyone for their support on Sunday at yet another fantastic Summer Fayre. The weather remained dry and we were delighted to see so many of you join us for the afternoon. The Circus shows were a great success and the stalls, BBQ, bar and cafe were ever popular. We had some wonderful raffle prizes, a selection of impressive cakes from our male members of staff which were sold at auction and Mr Blake, very sportingly, went through the experience of being “gunged”. A great deal of work went into the Fayre and FunRaisers would like to express their gratitude to all the parents and staff who made donations, organised activities or managed the stalls on the day.

The next FunRaisers meeting has been arranged for next Thursday 30 June, 7.30pm in the History Room. This will include a roundup of the Summer Fayre and details of next term’s Welcome Back BBQ.

.

Next week’s clubs: Years 5 & 6 Rounders Club (Tuesday) – Due to matches, please would those not in the match join Adam for their club. Alternatively they may go home. Years 3 & 4 Tennis Club (Tuesday) – There is a tennis match at home for older children at this time so the club will not run as normal. Children may swim (Adam in charge), or may go home.

Club lists for the Autumn term went home with the children today, and have also been e-mailed. Please return your club lists to the school reception from 7.45am on Monday 27 June. If you prefer to email your child’s choice to the school your list will be added at 8.30am. Deadline Friday 1 July.

Photographs: The order packs for the class and sports teams photos have been sent home with the children. Please order your photos direct from Tempest by post (details included in the pack). Unfortunately Tempest do not currently have the facility to order group photos on-line. Please do not return your order forms to school. Full size prints are on display in school for you to view from today (Nursery, Reception & Year 1 are displayed in the classrooms and Years 2 – 8 and the sports teams are displayed in the school Reception).

Cricket Team photos are not available just yet, but will be on view in the photo gallery on the website shortly and prints will be on display in Reception together with an order form for you to complete if you would like copies.

We have sent home Music Practice Sponsorship sheets with our instrumentalists to raise some of the additional funds needed for our very popular baby grand piano. We thought this might be a good incentive for more practice too! Please would you return the sponsorship forms and the money in a named envelope to Reception by Friday 8 July.

Art exhibition: Julian Renouf (artist in residence) is exhibiting some recent paintings in his studio from 18 June, every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9.00am – 8.00pm until 3 July. All are welcome. Address: Saddlestones, Perry Lane, Bledlow, Bucks, HP27 9QS. Leaflets and Bucks Open Studio booklets are available at Reception.

Sports Days:

Cottage Sports Day (Rec & Year 1) will be held on Friday 1 July 11.00am - 1.00pm and Nursery Sports on Tuesday 5 July at 10.00 – 1.00. Letters with further details will be sent home. The Senior Sports Day will now be held on 11 July, in the afternoon.

Mrs Maltese, the singing teacher, is holding trial lessons the week commencing 27 June and on Wednesday 13 July for pupils who are interested in beginning singing lessons in September. Please leave your child’s name and contact details in Reception and Mrs Maltese will contact you. Individual 20 minute lessons will be £130.50 per term and group lessons are £87 per term for 2011/12.
