We would like to wish you and your families a happy and enjoyable half term break.   Our best wishes go to Years 5, 6 and 7 children who are all participating in residential trips during the holiday period.

Concert rehearsals – please would all strings and windband players have their instruments in school every day after half term.

We have sent home Music Practice Sponsorship sheets with our instrumentalists to raise some of the additional funds needed for our very popular baby grand piano.   We thought this might be a good incentive for more practice too!

All the fun of the Summer Fayre is fast approaching – 19 June, 12.00 -5.00pm.  FunRaisers will be selling £1 entry tickets for this event next week as well as tickets for the two exciting Circus shows. Tickets for Dolphin’s very own Big Top are £4 prior to the event and £5 on the day. Please look out for the posters coming soon.

Thank you to all those who have already left donations for the Summer Fayre stalls in the school reception. Donations are still required for 2^nd hand toys, small lucky dip prizes, tombola prizes, books, CDs, electronic games, DVDs, raffle prizes and for any unwanted bottles of nail varnish.

HOUSE SHIRTS .  We are delighted that we have managed to obtain new house shirts which are replicas of the original Heraldic House Shirts with printing on both front and back.  We hope that as many children as possible will wear them for Junior and Senior Sports Day on 17 June.  They may be purchased from  the school reception and the cost will be:  Lancaster, Tudor and Plantagenet £7.50 and York (which is printed in two colours) £8.50.  If you do not wish to buy a new shirt remember that your child must have a plain T shirt in house colours: Tudor--green, Lancaster--red, Plantagenet--yellow and York--white  (NOT BLUE!)  New shirts available from MONDAY 13 JUNE.

SPORTS DAYS

Cottage Sports Day (Rec & Year 1) will be held on Friday 1 July 11.00am - 1.00pm and Nursery Sports on Tuesday 5 July at 10.00 – 1.00.   Letters with further details will be sent home.

Junior Sports Day (Years 2, 3 & 4) – Friday 17 June     10.30 - 12.15

You may take Juniors home after Sports Day, if you sign them out in the School Reception. There will be lessons for those who remain in school

Senior Sports Day (Years 5, 6, 7 & 8) Friday 17 June   13.30 - 15.30

Cello lessons will be on Tuesday 14 June instead of Monday 13 after half term.

Mrs Maltese, the singing teacher, is holding trial lessons the week of 13 June and 20 June for pupils who are interested in beginning singing lessons in September.   Please leave your child’s name and contact details in Reception and Mrs Maltese will contact you.   Individual lessons will be £174 per term and group lessons are £87 per term for 2011/12.

A polite plea–would parents kindly avoid entering the hall or talking at the back of the hall during lesson times. It is of course one of our classrooms for drama, music and PE. If necessary, please use the far door to collect musical instruments, rather than walk through the hall. Thank you for your understanding.

Would parents who need to park in the school grounds in a period outside of “pick up” time, please do so in the main school parking area. The playing fields should only be driven on to by prior arrangement.

NURSERY

Forest trip on Wednesday 15 June, 9.00am – 12.00pm.   The children will need sensible footwear, wellies and waterproof if wet, hat and sunscreen if sunny.

YEAR 1

Trip to Pang Valley, Rushall Manor Farm, on Tuesday 14 June, 9.00am – 3.30pm.   The children will need a packed lunch, sensible footwear, wellies and waterproof if wet, hat and sunscreen if sunny.

Welcome to Year 2 evening for parents on Monday 13 June, 7.30 – 8.30, in the Hall.

YEAR 3

Parents Evening on Wednesday 15 June, 6.30 – 8.30pm, in the Hall.   Please arrive at the time indicated on your reply slip.

YEAR 5

Brecon Beacons trip departs at 7.30am on Saturday 4 June, returning at 8.00pm on Tuesday 7 June.   Bags to the Hall on Friday 3 June please by 12.30pm

YEARS 5, 6 & 7

Shakespeare in Schools Festival:   Auditions for an acting role and interviews for the posts of photographer and marketing officer will begin after half term.  Please come prepared according to the letters of information already distributed.

YEAR 6

Lakes walking trip departs at 7.30am on Monday 30 May, returning at 8.00pm on Thursday 2 June.

A reminder for parents who are considering Wellington College for their son or daughter in Year Nine (2013), that the closing date for registration is 30 June, 2011.

YEARS 6 & 7

Judy has handed out letters to the children inviting them to audition for the next Shakespeare in Schools Festival in October.   If you are happy for your child to audition, please sign and return the form at the bottom of the letter to Judy.   Thank you.

The Adventure Week trip meeting will be held in the History Room on Tuesday 21 June, from 7.30 - 8.15pm.

YEAR 7

Snowdonia trip departs at 7.30am (arrive 7.15) on Thursday 9 June, returning on Monday 13 June at 8.00pm.   Bags to the Maths Rooms by 12.00pm on Wednesday 8 June. These classrooms are nearest the climbing frame.   Please do not use the hall because exams are taking place.

Trip to Fishbourne on Thursday 16 June, 8am – 3.30pm.   The children will need a picnic lunch in a disposable carrier, sensible footwear, waterproof coat if wet, or sunscreen and hat if sunny.

YEARS 7 & 8 Exams

Timetables with instructions were given out 2 weeks ago. Spare copies are available in Reception. Please arrive at 7.50am, latest 8.00am. Collection times are 2.00pm on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday collection time is either 10.15am or 11.50am, depending on exams taken. See timetable. Three candidates have an exam on Thursday and need collecting at 9.10am.

YEAR 8

An e-mail was sent out to all parents, but just in case you missed it there will be a Stratford trip meeting at 7:30pm in the Maths Room on Tuesday 14 June.   It is essential that you attend in order for you to give informed consent.   The meeting will be short.

Parents should have received by now an e-mail from David Holt regarding an outing on Thursday 16 June, 8.00am – 3.30pm
