WEEKLY CALENDAR OF EVENTS NO. 439

Monday 10 May – Sunday 16 May 2010

ISSUED Friday 7 May 2010

ALL

We are holding an Open Morning for prospective parents on Monday 10 May. If you have any friends, colleagues or neighbours who are considering their child’s schooling, please do let them know.

Class and sports teams photos will be taken on Tuesday 11 May. If your child has been in a team this year please can they bring in the appropriate kit for team photos. This includes white shorts, long blue socks, sort white socks, cricket whites, football boots and tracksuits. Trainers should be predominantly white please! Please ensure that children wear a top that is slogan free for their class photos.

Barnardos Charity

In assembly this week a representative of the children’s charity Barnardos gave a presentation to Year 2 upwards. Please do ask your child to tell you about what they have learned. The children will be bringing home an envelope for any donations and a badge to design for the forthcoming Care & Share Challenge. Many thanks for your support.

Do take a look at our bird box where the eggs have now hatched! You can access the link through the Dolphin school website under Dolphin Community – eco-warriors-birdcam.

We would like to remind parents that fees for the summer term were due on 15 April 2010 or before.

If your child wishes to participate in the Summer Activity Week (26-30 July) please sign up at Reception soon. We need at least 25 children to make it viable. Adam

House Music: Mr. Cooper has given some children pieces of music to practise for the House Music event on Monday 24 May. More may follow.

Swimming – Please ensure that your child’s swimsuit and towel are clearly labelled.

The club lists for this term will be available in a folder in the School Reception if you need to check them.

If you have a Nursery (or pre-Nursery!) age child you may be interested in coming on a school tour, particularly if your older child joined us after Nursery. Do get in touch with Jan Vernon if this is of interest to you.

FUNRAISERS

The Big Sleepover, for Yrs 5 – 8, is tonight ( Friday 7 May) at 18.00. Please can children be collected by 10.00 on Saturday 8 May.

The next Hot Lunch will be on Friday 14 May, run by the parents of Years 1 and 5.

INFORMATION & REMINDERS

(Much of the information in this section is either statutory or is passed on to you at the request of our insurers/other advisors)

Please may we remind you that no nuts or peanut butter may be brought to school as we have several children who have nut allergies.

Would all drivers entering the school car park please note that their speed should be limited to a walking pace. All drivers should also be aware that children from a very young age (albeit under their parents’ responsibility) may be in the car park area.

Please remember that once children pass out of the school grounds (through the gate at the Meadow Reception) with their parents they become their parents’ responsibility. Whilst doing our best to ensure safe practice in the school car park, we cannot be responsible for the children in that area. Parents of younger children, that is Nursery and Reception classes, whose children are delivered to them by the school staff are responsible for them from then onwards. Any subsequent play in the climbing frame area must be supervised by parents. The Sky scales are out of bounds before and after school.

If your child is absent due to illness, please telephone or e-mail the school office on the morning of the first day of absence. If you need to take your child out of school for any other reason, please drop a note in to the school office. For your children’s safety we need to know where they are during term time.

If your child needs to take medicine during the school day, please bring it to the school reception with your written permission and the dates and times it should be given. Dolphin staff will do their very best to ensure that medicines you bring in to school are administered to pupils. Because of the nature of school life we cannot make an absolute guarantee.

May we remind everyone bringing children to school in the morning that they cannot be dropped off until 07.45. Before that time there are no staff available to be responsible for the children (unless part of a trip arrangement).
