The staff would like to wish you and your families a happy and restful holiday and look forward to welcoming you back on 6 September. Our best wishes for the future to all our leavers.
There will be no Judo on Tuesday 20 July due to the Leavers’ Evening taking place in the school hall.
Thank you to everyone who returned their club list for next term – the list will be on the club board in Reception by the end of term. Please check carefully which clubs your child will be going to and the days. If you wish to make changes or have any problems, please see Vivien in the office rather than the teacher who is running the club. Whilst we make every effort to run the clubs we have offered, sometimes unforeseen circumstances oblige us to make changes.
If your child is leaving Dolphin this term and you would like to donate any PE kit to the school, please would you wash and delable it and give it to reception or any member of the PE department. Thank you. A second hand PE kit sale4 will be held on Tuesday 14 September next term.
Funraisers would like to make parents aware of the following dates for the Autumn term:
The “Welcome Back BBQ” will be on Friday 10 September, for all Dolphin adults and children. We plan to have the pay BBQ/Bar on the field after school clubs have finished. This was a great success last year so please do try to make it! More details at the start of next term.
Another “Race Night” is scheduled for the evening of Friday 19 November in the school hall. This is for adults only and tickets will be on sale next term.
Funraisers will be having their AGM on Wednesday 29 September. It is imperative that all clippers please attend.
The next Hot Lunch will be Friday 8 October organised by Yrs 4 and 8.
For those who have signed up for the Young Voices Choir concerts at Royal Albert Hall and O2 Arena – the children have been given their song sheets to begin learning over the summer. More information about ticket sales for these concerts will follow next term. Please make sure you sign your child up for the relevant choir club for rehearsals next term. If any other children in Years 2-5 would like to join in please see Jacquie Champion.
PE kit: We are changing our PE kit slightly to embroidered logos, and the T-shirts will have polo collars. John Lewis has reduced all the old screen printed kit to half price in the sale. Of course the children may wear the old kit until it wears out.
Instruments: Susie Fison has some availability for flute lessons and Lucy Head has some availability for Brass lessons in September. If you are interested in either please drop a note into the school office.
JR Rugby Camp: The children have taken home with them a card giving details of the Rugby Camp which JR Rugby are holding at Dolphin in August. A discount of 25% is being offered to Dolphin pupils. Please direct all enquiries to JR Rugby (Josh on 07837 932 176 or Rich on 07813 827 621). We are pleased to have JR Rugby at the School, but the camp is not a Dolphin School Event.
Medications: Please collect all medications from the Office before the end of term, especially if you are leaving Dolphin. Any items left will be disposed of.

May we take the opportunity to remind parents that the School fees for the Autumn Term 2010 are due on or before 1 September 2010
As part of the condition of Dolphin’s planning permission we are required to produce a travel plan. We have assured the Local Authority that we will promote car sharing and encourage walking or cycling to school wherever possible. The roads and paths around Hurst will only enable parents to allow children to travel in this way where they feel that the route is completely safe.
Please may we remind parents and children that there should be no tennis or football played directly in front of the school gate – either first thing in the morning or after school as there is a danger of someone being hurt as they enter or leave the premises.
Would Parents please note for Dolphin Night and Year Six Party, once children have finished participating in the evening and have left the School Hall to join parties and their friends, they become their parents’ responsibility.
NURSERY
Nursery Picnic trip will take place on Monday 19 July, 09.00 – 14.00. The children will need suncream, hat and sensible footwear (waterproofs if wet weather).
YEARS 3 – 8
House swimming will take place on Monday or Tuesday next week. Please will all children have their swimming kit in school on both days.
YEARS 4 – 8
Please return your French textbooks/folders to Language 1 as soon as possible. Thank you to those children who have already done so.
YEARS 5 – 8
Dolphin Night this year is on Tuesday 20 July at 19.30 in the school hall. This is the occasion where the school says farewell to our Year 8. All children from Year 5 – 8 are expected to attend for the evening, wearing smart clothes please. Anyone who has won a trophy will be awarded it on this occasion. Some children younger than Year 5 will be invited to receive Junior House trophies. Children from Years 5 – 7 may be collected at around 21.00.
The staff would like to invite the families of Year 8 to join them after Dolphin Night for a party in the Basilica.
YEAR 6
Year 7 will be allocated lockers on the first day of next term so you may like them to bring in a key ring.
YEAR 7
Trip to Big Pit on Tuesday 20 July, 07.30 – 17.00. The children will need a picnic lunch in a disposable carrier, sensible footwear, hat, suncream (or waterproofs if wet)
YEARS 7 & 8
Adventure week departing at 08.00 on 1 September, returning at 21.00 on 5 September. Bags to the hall please before 12.00 noon on 31 August.
YEAR 8
Outing to Hollywood Bowl and Pizza Hut in Bracknell on Monday 19 July, 15.30 – 20.00. A letter giving further details has already been sent home.
