Entry Procedure

We are delighted that you are considering sending your child to Dolphin and suggest that your first step should be to call our Registrar, Jan Vernon, on 0118 9341277 who will be only to happy to help.

Making the choice of the right school for your child is a very difficult decision and, initially, we recommend that you visit us yourself either on a day of your choice or on one of our termly Open days so that you can see the school in action!

If you like what you have seen, we ask you to complete a registration form and, in the case of a Nursery age child, a familiarisation day is chosen for them in the term before their proposed term of entry. You will have plenty of time to talk with and get to know the Nursery staff beforehand.

Children aged five and above are invited to spend a mutually convenient day at Dolphin with their peer group so that we can get to know them and they can get to know us. An offer of a place will be made if we feel, after consultation with the staff, that your child would flourish and be happy at Dolphin.

Children can join Dolphin Nursery at any time from the age of three and they are eligible for entry into the Reception class in the Autumn term following their fourth birthday. However, we will also accept children, particularly at this young age, at other times in the school year. We also have an intake into Years Six, Seven and Eight where generous scholarships are available. Spaces are sometimes available in other years and we can offer waiting list places.

What if my child is not yet three?

Dolphin is pleased to welcome children into our Nursery who are 'rising three' (please contact us for the definition of this term) for as many days in the week that you and the school agree are suitable for your child. In the following term, when children become eligible for government funding, they must attend for three days or more.
