On Saturday September 15^th Year Five went to Wales for a walking trip. (Gerry was our leader and gave us each a map.) He showed us the route we were taking on the map and then we started to walk.

The first part of the walk was probably the steepest part and then it became flatter, but it was still very rocky. We reached a quarry and stopped to have a look at the red sandstone inside. We carried on walking and the view got better and better as we walked up another hill. We soon reached another quarry but this time there were lots of them side by side and they looked amazing. When we were over the other side and had walked up some little hills we sat down to have lunch, yum yum! After we had all finished our lunch we set off for the next part of the walk.

As we walked along, we saw some small berries hanging from some plants and we asked Gerry what they were and he said they were called 'billberries'. We kept walking along and we saw some very sticky, muddy lakes. We soon reached the highest hill and climbed up the steep, rocky side. When we were at the top the view was absolutely brilliant! We could see almost all of the hills and the little valley where the buses were parked. We carried on walking and soon got back to the buses and made our way home.

On the way back we stopped at a motorway service station and had some dinner. That was fun too! When we got back to school, our parents picked us up and we went home. I really liked the trip and thought it was quite an adventure.
