It’s Friday and it’s Lunch N Learn with Davinder

How lucky are we to have such talented individuals working at Dolphin. Davinder was our special guest today and we learnt about her life before Dolphin.  Did you know that she used to work for The Prince’s Trust and organised big fundraising events like charity balls and Party in the Park?

She emphasised the importance of being a good communicator, having excellent organisational skills and being brave enough to take a leap when making decisions.  And even when events don’t go according to plan, like checking your volunteers into a hotel, only to discover that there were bedbugs, taking responsibility for your mistakes and apologising.

The Prince’s Trust helps many young people to build their confidence, find a job or start their own business; they also run a wide variety of courses. Most recently, Nicola Adams, two times Olympic boxing champion, in her new role as Goodwill Ambassador of The Prince’s Trust, launched a boxing programme with the charity.

As well as boxing, the course will help young people to build confidence and develop transferable skills they will be able to take away and use for life, she says.

Students from Years 7 & 8 were very inspired to hear Davinder’s experience of working for King Charles III, and who knows maybe one of them will end up as an Events Manager…

Thank you, Davinder, for an inspiring talk.
