Immersed in stories and treasures from the past, Y4 spent an amazing day in Oxford visiting two museums! It is impossible to see everything at the Ashmolean in one visit, so they focused on the Sumerian Gallery, exploring the earliest form of writing, 'Cuneiform', from the area that is modern day Iraq. They also looked around the galleries of India and Middle Eastern History, liking in particular the amazing swords, skulls and statues.

The Oxford Story Museum always delights students and teachers alike! Visiting a museum that focuses on the importance and pleasure that reading, hearing and telling stories gives us, they left reluctantly and wished they could have stayed longer! A love of books and stories from the past and present is a big part of life at Dolphin School. This time, Y4 were enchanted by the interactive displays, watching Raymond Briggs ‘The Snowman’ and feeling the fur coats brush past them, as they stepped through the wardrobe, just like Lucy did on her way to Narnia.
