Y4 & 6 Henley Literary Festival Visits

Back

The Henley Literary Festival is a fantastic event that has developed over the years to attract some worldwide known Writers. Dolphin students love a story and we visit the festival every year. Year Four study the Horrid Henry Author, Francesca Simon's, creation of exaggeratedly comic characters who dare to challenge the status quo. It was a thrill this year to start this work by listening to the Author herself read her latest Horrid Henry book and receive signed copies.

The students listened to her talk about her passion for reading from a young age and were wide eyed with delight and her story of having ink smudges on her face as she had her head buried in books so often. "That's what I do!" they said, with wide eyes.

Visiting the festival stimulates a lifelong love of reading and meeting authors encourages our students to believe in their own abilities and pursue any ambitions they have to write.
