Years 7 and 8 have just returned from an enjoyable week’s residential field trip to ‘Northumbria’. They studied aspects of history, architecture, religion, geography, geology, literature, art and drama, whilst taking in visits to Fountains Abbey, the Roman Army museum, Brunton Turret, Vindolanda, Lindisfarne, Hadrian’s Wall, Jarrow Hall and Durham Cathedral. In particular we explored the lives of ordinary people, soldiers and monks in Roman and Anglo-Saxon Britain. For the most part the weather was dry and sunny, enabling the children to create some lovely sketches of the places visited.
