Year 3 took a short trip to Reading University classics department to visit the Ure Museum. It is named after the first Professor of Classics at the University who believed in a hands-on approach to learning. Year Three were delighted to don white gloves to handle a range of Greek vases from the minute to the large. They tried to work out their use, and note other interesting details such as their decoration, and the information we can gain today about life in ancient Greece derived from the illustrations on the vases. The day ended with each house presenting a tableau vivant based on a vase image. Lancaster won.
