Years 7-11 (MYP)
In Years 7–11, pupils follow the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), a globally recognised and ECCTIS-accredited qualification that provides a meaningful alternative to GCSEs while preparing students for whatever educational pathway they may wish to follow. The curriculum is structured around eight faculties rather than traditional subjects, with learning organised into units built around central concepts and framed within global contexts, encouraging pupils to see knowledge as interconnected and relevant to the wider world. An interdisciplinary approach ensures pupils develop the ability to transfer skills and understanding across domains, deepening critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.
Assessment focuses on skills as well as knowledge, emphasising analytical thinking, communication, reflection, and collaboration alongside factual understanding. Pupils are encouraged to become inquirers, thinkers, communicators, open-minded and reflective learners, exemplifying the IB Learner Profile, while maintaining intellectual curiosity, resilience, and independence. The MYP balances academic challenge with thoughtful exploration, giving pupils the time to think, question, and make connections, and fostering confidence, self-direction, and global awareness. By valuing the process as much as the outcome, the curriculum equips pupils not just for examinations, but for lifelong learning, ethical engagement, and success in a rapidly changing, interconnected world.
